It’s amazing to see colors splashed across the hillsides surrounding the California Poppy Reserve! Fields of yellow and orange, meadows of purple.
California poppies mean Spring! Combined with purple lupines, the mountainsides are a delight to behold. These poppies are in the local botanical garden, but they can show up anywhere. They vary from deep orange to yellow, some with orangey streaks in the center of their golden petals.
Poppies are the California state flower, harbingers of Spring, and something I look forward to every year.
Another flower still blooming in the botanical garden. The Nikon 1 32mm f1.2 is a phenomenal little lens!
I spied these two in the crowd, and kept losing them. I was delighted to see them coming toward me on the ski lift! The orange and green combo was just too funny, though I know some who would find it extremely offensive. BTW, Irish Fest is one of the many summer festivals held in Milwaukee, WI, on the shores of Lake Michigan.
