I grew up in the midwest, surrounded by oak trees. In California, the trees are still recognizably oaks, but adapted to a dryer climate, and green for most of the year. I think this may be an import as its leaves are bigger, and changing with the season.
Nothing like snooping in a neighbor’s yard for a photograph!
Olympus OM-4Ti, Ilford XP2 Super 400, 135mm Zuiko lens.
I have no idea what this plant is, but the leaves are huge and pointy and grow like weeds. Nice weed, eh?
Hunkered down, spending money on groceries in ways not of our norm, enjoying the cold and rain, and getting out for walks. I get off the streets and onto a trail. Here is a view from above a local creek – all slushy brown leaves from last year and new ones leafing out.
It’s been a kick trying to take good pictures with a limited, prime, non-zoom lens. A challenge. So many absolutely dreadful ones, and the occasional good one. Learning curve! Not a bad thing at all. I’m glad I got this X100V – my mind is definitely rethinking how to make an image.
More Ortho Plus 80 by Ilford. Here, the Nikon N90s, 28-85 lens, and a 2.8 aperture to go for a narrow DOF. You can see it in the wall especially. I did this to check the detail of the film, as well as to see how the lens itself blurred fore and background.
I loaded up my OM-4Ti with film last summer! The intention was to really master the camera. Well, half a year later, not mastered, but so totally love the OM cameras that I wanted to see what I had. This was taken probably around October 2019, through the studio window in the morning as the light was coming through the leaves. So, of course, “before the fall” – season, and leaves.
I expect a lot of you are bored with my leaves and trees and plants! But I never tire of them and just wish I lived someplace with more open spaces and trees. Maybe even some snow. The older I get, the more I appreciate what I grew up in – wild, green areas without people.
