The day we were out was gloomy and grey. The coastal fog was slung low overhead. We came from a sunny inland valley and ended up in the May Grey (now June Gloom) of the California coast. Colors pop on such days.
This is a detail of an old Norwegian fishing boat dating from the 1800s. Fishermen would sail out in an open boat to earn their living and feed their families. No cabin, but oars, sails, scoops, and prayers to keep them safe.
